"The EL was the best binocular in the world. It's still one of the best, but not the best anymore." - Swarovski Optik Executive

The NL Pure from Swarovski Optik is not a replacement for the EL. What it is, however, is spectacular. With the three most popular magnifications on the market represented in a reimagined 42 mm format (including a 12x42), the NL is the most comfortable hand-holding binocular we've ever seen.

Strap the NL Pure to a tripod and take full advantage of Swarovski's iconic glass, Swarovision coating system, and a massive 71˚ field of view (even at 12x), and refuse to let anything on the mountain escape. The EL still has its place, but the NL Pure has literally created a brand-new category for binocular performance.

You can't kill a legend, but you can ask it to scoot over.

Pure Joy

I splurged on these and I am very happy I did. I'm an optometrist, so I appreciate high quality optics and the NL pure have so far lived up to the hype. Not in every single aspect though. Image clarity is a 10/10, no image distortion, ergonomics very pleasant (though a tad heavy, not surprising with the good glass), the eyepiece adjustments are very good with many levels (7?), the diopter adjustment is not typical but so far so good (hasn't moved from my spot). Swaro and others have advertised about barely detectable edges, which I think is the part which is a bit over hyped. Do not get me wrong, the FOV in these is CRAZY and its edges are much less evident than any other bino I've looked through, but I can definitely see them especially temporally. Now the inferior and superior edge you actually have to tilt your head to see, which is pretty amazing. One other minor issue is sometimes you can get some annoying shadows if you don't have your pupil distance or eyepiece adjustments perfectly set up, but with more use I figured it out and it doesn't seem to be a problem. Overall I love these things. I used these on a tripod for the first time overlooking a few miles of tundra and man, I could do that all day.
