Slik Pro CF-734 Carbon Fiber Tripod

View full details

The Slik PRO CF-734 is a full-size tripod extending to a height 65 inches and folding down to a compact 18.7 inches. Though lightweight, 3.0 lbs, the CF-734 handles up to 11 lbs. This makes it a great hiking and backpacking tripod for mirrorless or professional camera body and long lens combinations.

All 700 series carbon fiber tripods have legs made up of carbon fiber material that is comprised of 8 layers of inter-woven carbon strands that are then bonded together in a sealed, high-pressure furnace, producing strong, light-weight carbon fiber. The leg Anti-Rotational System (ARS) is crafted into the leg locks and does not permit individual leg sections to rotate inside each other. Each leg also has an independent lock that sets in one of 3 angles to vary the height and stance of the tripod. The three settings are for maximum height, waist level or low angle photography.

The four leg sections are secured and loosened with twist locks. Because the legs do not rotate, you can unlock all of a leg's stages at once by twisting the three large rubber grips with one hand. This enables fast setup.

Solid build

I like the ease of the leg deployment, and the adjustments that can be made for all height requirements. It holds my BTX/95mm with zero issues.

Great value

Nice and sturdy and still light enough to pack.

I was not unsatisfied with this tripod as it hit what I was looking for. But there are others models I feel would be a better fit for me.

To begin it is very lightweight even to the point my wife was surprised when she picked it up with a camera on it. Makes for fitting in a pack very easy without feeling a lot of weight.

With legs that can adjust to different angles it has had a solid foundation so far. I have used it with binos and a camera on it and have not been disappointed. There haven’t been many times that I have used it in strong wind to use the weight hook. So, we are still waiting for that test to happen but in a little wind it has done well at staying put for how light it is.

Height has been great. My wife is 6’ and it has been perfect for her while standing. That is without the extension pole up and with a Bino adapter on. It also has done well for my and I am 5’10”. With varying leg positions this is a great tripod for anyone’s height.

I’m my personal opinion I would go with the 733 or 833 instead. As they only have two sections of leg to open instead of three. For quick access I have been a little frustrated with the three knobs to unscrew. It takes too much time when in a rush to get all three open and then tightened.I would like to try the 833 and see if only having two knobs is more convenient when trying to get set up quickly.

Overall a good tripod make, but would not recommend the CF-734 if you don’t like having to tighten and un tighten a lot of knobs. As said earlier I haven’t tried the CF-833, but hope to and would recommend it just based on only having two leg adjustments per leg instead of three.
