Outdoorsmans Pan Head Gen 2

The Gen 2 pan head is a smooth pan head great for glassing and spotting animals out at distance.

I’ve been using outdoorsman’s tripod products from close to the beginning. Last fall I purchased the pan head Gen 1 thinking that was all I needed because all of my optic accessories have the Outdoorsman’s original mounting base. Well, wouldn’t you know, I purchased a product that could only work with an Arca-Swiss mount. I weighed the option of purchasing the new adapter plate that will accommodate both mounts and I decided my old legs don’t need “just a few more ounces”, so I ordered the Gen 2 pan head. As you see in the other reviews, it just flat out performs, PERIOD! Until now, I had no idea how prevalent the Arca-Swiss mount is in the market place and I now understand why the good folks at the Outdoorsman’s wanted to incorporate the option in all of their mounting products. Now I have the best of both worlds.

I went to the Hunting expo in SLC Utah, and stopped by the Outdoorsmen booth and boy was I amamzed. I have an older tripod and they helped me out and even gave me a few extra things for my old tripod to use with the new head I bought for my 10/42 EL’s. It is such a sweet ride and so steady to use with the stud system. Thanks again a for the help and helping to save money and make it work!

Pan head works as designed,
Pretty smooth
It took a bit to get accustomed to the adjustments ie get the right tension, but after that loved it

Brilliant design for both Outdoorsmans & Arca Swiss hookups! I mainly use the Outdoorsmans fluid head for my hunts but when backpacking in this head is used to save weight without sacrificing performance. Paired this with the new Gen 2 compact tripod and I’m good to go! I always say this outta be my last setup I get for a LONG time but somehow Outdoorsmans always seems to engineer something better that I just can’t do without. Lifelong customer. Buy once cry once.
