The Sirui VA-5 is a great tripod head, but it was not without its warts. Sirui has taken care of those issues with the VA-5X. 

The biggest difference is the plating system. While still ARCA compatible, Sirui changed the design of their jaws. The VA-5X now features a large, adjustable cam lever and provides better fitment for a variety of 3rd party Arca plates.

The SIRUI VA/VH Series Professional Fluid Video Head has a fluid system for smooth panning and tilting. The panning resistance is preset to produce very smooth pans and the tilt mechanism has stepless friction adjustment.

Great head

Awesome head that has abilities to lock for panning, has a compass on it to remember position and super smooth. This is my first pan head but I felt like it worked great for a newb. My only con is it's a little heavy but at this price the weight has to be overlooked. Great head!
