The Outdoorsmans Micro Pan Head is a great option for the ultralight hunter. Weighing in at only 7.5 oz, it can hold any pair of binoculars and most spotting scopes perfectly still.

A general recommendation to avoid unwanted vibration is to use the Micro Pan Head with spotting scopes up to 65 mm. The Micro Pan Head's tilt and pan functions are extremely smooth, making it the best head on the market when ounces matter in your pack.

How does the Micro Pan Head differ from the Outdoorsmans Pan head?
Although both Lightweight Tripod Heads are designed to pan and tilt with ease, the Micro Pan Head is slightly smaller and lighter, ideal if you are looking at saving space and weight. If you mostly use larger optics, the Original Outdoorsmans Panhead is recommended.

Which adapter plates do I need?
All optics, cameras and rifle rests attach to the Quick Release Adapter system using a 1/4-20 Adapter Plate.

How does the Micro Pan Head attach to my tripod?
The Outdoorsmans Micro Pan Head attaches to a tripod using a 3/8 stud, or can be used with any of the Outdoorsmans Quick Release Adapters.

For When Size Matters.

When size and weight are your primary concern, you opt for a smaller tripod head. With that choice often comes the sacrifice of stability and effectiveness.

Not anymore.

The Micro Pan Head weighs in at a bite-size 7.5 oz and has a capacity way above its class. The precision machined 6061 aluminum body features an open-gear design to achieve its unmatched form factor.

When it comes to glassing, the Micro outperforms many larger, more complicated heads on the market.

Lasting Construction

This head is at home in nearly any situation. The adjustment knobs rotate with an amount of force that’s easy, but not too easy. These controls are also able to cam and reposition for quick adjustments and are simple to manipulate–even with cold hands or gloves.

The Micro Pan Head features a pan knob similar to the Pan Head, but the tilt knob is built into the handle. The tilt function locks out with just the right amount of rotation and allows for varying levels of tension. Micro Pan Head owners often praise the ability to adjust tilt without changing the position of their hands.

This head is designed for use with Outdoorsmans Dovetail adapter plates, but can be mounted to any set of tripod legs with a ⅜’ mounting thread. With extremely fine tolerances, as with all Outdoorsmans parts, there is never a concern with fit or function. This head locks down tight in any position and will not gradually unscrew itself from your tripod legs, as is the case with many other heads.

The Pan Head is billet machined and assembled in Payson, Arizona from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum and each unit is hand-inspected. Outdoorsmans offers a 60-day limited warranty on all products manufactured in the USA.

Who is the Micro Pan Head for?

With the very lightweight (7.5 oz) nature of this head comes a slightly lower capacity than something like the Outdoorsmans Pan Head. We recommend the Micro Pan Head for binoculars and spotting scopes with an objective lens size of up to 65 mm. With the right attitude, 85 mm, 95 mm, and larger scopes can be used, but the added weight may prove cumbersome due to the lack of fluid drag. If you plan to use a large optic, we recommend mounting it with a Balance Rail or Extended Adapter Plate.

This head is very popular with sheep hunters, backpackers, and hike-to hunters. It fits into the ultralight category, weighing less than half a pound. There are few products like it on the market, let alone any that can match its build quality and weight.

First Outdoorsman pan head.

I’ve been using Slik panheads for the last 10 years and they work but the Outdoorsman’s micro pan head is the absolute end. It is the smoothest easy to use piece I’ve ever put my hands on. I have a Swaro 60mil spottter and it is absolutely rock solid I would have no problem putting an 80mm spotter it at all! Don’t think about it just buy it! You won’t be disappointed!
